The Independence FM Amateur Radio Club (IFMARC) has some history
behind it. It's seen many presidents, secretaries, Treasurers, and one
repeater trustee come and go. The IFMARC repeater carries the call sign of
the late Marcell Kurbin (WØTOJ) who dedicated much of his free time to the
Independence FM Amateur Radio Club as our first, of only two since our founding,
repeater trustees. It's people like this that makes up the bulk of our
membership body and it's why the IFMARC is one of the most active Amateur Radio
clubs in the Kansas City Area.

IFMARC MEETINGS
The Independence FM Amateur Radio Club meeting site has moved to
a couple of new locations in recent times. IFMARC meetings are now held at the
Salvation Army Facility on the EAST side of the Independence, Missouri
downtown square at 14700 E Truman Road. We are using the general purpose
meeting room (as you enter the building on the Southwest side, immediately turn left,
into the room; the door to the room is on the left-hand side) and meeting times are still at the original
7pm.

THE SANTA-CALI-GON DAYS LOST CHILD NETWORK
The Independence FM Amateur Radio Club, in conjunction with the
Independence, Missouri Chamber
of Commerce manages a Lost Child Network at the annual
Santa-Cali-Gon Days
Festival during the Labor day weekend. The Lost Child Network was
originally started by Ralph Dickinson (KØRCD) over 20 years ago. The 2002
Santa-Cali-Gon Day Festival was Ralph Dickinson's last year as the supervisor of
the Lost Child Network. He stated to a fellow ham, "I've been doing this
now for 20 years, I think it's time to give my family back the Labor Day
weekend..." He has since past the torch over to Tom Clark, NØEZY for
the future years. It's a major function of the Independence FM Amateur
Radio Club that will be hosted for many years to come.
